
Talia Pavia (Master of Music, Bachelor of
Music, Performer’s Certificate - Northern
Illinois University) has toured both
nationally and internationally in chamber
music festivals including the Zeist Music
Days in the Netherlands. Talia studied with
the Grammy-nominated Vermeer Quartet
and trained in one of the world’s premier
string quartet programs under the auspices
of the Vermeer. She performed in a lecture
seminar by former Chicago Symphony
Orchestra Composer-in-Residence Augusta
Reed Thomas at the Green Lake Festival of
Music, where her chamber music
interpretations were called “remarkably
sensitive and mature” by John
von Rhein of the Chicago Tribune.
A versatile artist, Talia performs with
classical, jazz, and pop ensembles such as
Camerata Chicago, where she has been
appointed as Assistant Principal Second
Violin. She has played under the baton of
world-class conductors such as Daniel
Barenboim, Pinchas Zukerman, and Pierre
Boulez as a member of the Civic Orchestra
of Chicago. In addition to live concert
performances, Talia appeared as a soloist
with popular Ravinia pianist Chrisopher
O’Reilly for the Public Radio International
program “From the Top.” She has
performed at the Chicago Jazz Festival, the
Pritzker Pavilion, and the Auditorium
Theater as Co-Concertmaster of the Chicago
Jazz Philharmonic and the CJP Chamber
Ensemble, groups founded by visionary jazz
trumpeter and educator Orbert Davis. Over
the course of her career, Talia has played on
stage with renowned jazz artists including
Zach Brach, Kurt Elling, Dee Alexander,
Ernie Adams, Alan Vizzuti, and MacArthur
Genius Award winner Reginald Robinson.
Talia’s experience in world music includes
appearances with Mark O’Connor and with
Rana Santacruz at the Chicago World Music
Festival.
